Russia will be happy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory together with the Americans, said Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.

"Common history should serve as a unifying factor. We should never forget that our peoples fought together in World War II, the memory of the victims of fascism should remain forever in the hearts and minds of future generations," Antonov, the Russian Embassy in the US, wrote in an article sent to the National Interest magazine.
"We will be happy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory on May 9, 2020, together with the American people," Antonov continued, recalling that Russian President Vladimir Putin had invited his US counterpart Donald Trump to attend the celebration in Moscow.
Ambassador Antonov added that "countries with different social systems can forget about political contradictions".
“In the anti-Hitler coalition, we had a common enemy that threatened the whole world. Now there are no ideological contradictions between us. But there are new global challenges, historical experience of the alliance and responsibility to all of humanity,” the Russian diplomat wrote.
