"We always believe in negotiations... If they lift the sanctions, stop putting economic pressure on us and return to the 2015 nuclear deal, we are ready to negotiate with the United States today, right now, anywhere," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on television on July 14.

President Rouhani also praised Tehran's ability to withstand sanctions from Washington over the past several months, saying that US pressure on Iran is "ineffective".

The Trump administration has also said it is ready to negotiate a broader deal with Iran on nuclear and security issues. However, Iran needs conditions, with the goal of being able to export oil as before the US withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal last year. However, despite calling for talks with Iran's leaders, US President Donald Trump said last week that sanctions on Tehran would soon be "substantially" increased.
