President Putin congratulates Chancellor Merkel on her 65th birthday
During a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated the head of the German government on her 65th birthday, the Kremlin press service said.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel celebrates her 65th birthday on July 17. The female leader has headed the German Government for 14 consecutive years.
"During a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated German Chancellor Angela Merkel on her 65th birthday," the Kremlin press service said.
The statement also noted that President Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Merkel.
"Dear Chancellor Angela Merkel, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on your birthday. Your political leadership qualities and your many years of successful work as Chancellor deserve high praise in Germany, as well as in Europe and the whole world," the congratulatory message posted on the Kremlin's website reads.
President Putin stressed that he values the relationship established between him and Mrs. Merkel, which “allows for open discussion of any issues, including the most complex ones.” Mr. Putin also noted that he would be happy to continue dialogue and work together.
The Russian President wished the German Chancellor good health, happiness and success.
