Nam Non Hydropower Plant has compensated 650 million VND to the family of the victim who died due to water discharge without notice.
(Baonghean.vn) - 10 days after the compensation agreement, Nam Non Hydropower Plant gave money to the victim's family.
On July 18, Mr. Dau Van Hiep - Vice Chairman of Xa Luong Commune People's Committee (Tuong Duong District) said that on July 15, at Xa Luong Commune People's Committee, with the witness of representatives of the commune government, Xieng Huong Village Management Board, Nam Non Hydropower Plant presented 650 million VND to the family of Mr. Vi Van May - the victim who died in the Nam Non Hydropower Plant's sluice gate spill on May 23.
Thus, Nam Non Hydropower Plant handed over the money to Mr. May's family earlier than the agreement between the two parties, which was 15 days from July 5.
Found the body of a person swept away by water when Nam Non hydroelectric dam opened its gates
(Baonghean.vn) - Two brothers were rowing a boat on the river when Nam Non Hydropower Plant opened its floodgates. They were unable to react in time and the boat capsized, causing one person to be swept away and die.
Previously, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper, at around 2:00 p.m. on May 23, Vi Van May and his younger brother Vi Van Than, both residents of Xa Luong commune, were rowing a boat under the Nam Non hydroelectric dam area when the plant released water. However, both brothers could not get out of the discharge area in time, the water was released so strongly that the boat capsized.
As soon as the incident was discovered, the locals informed the factory to close the spillway. Mr. Than was fortunately saved by the locals, but Mr. May was swept away by the water. It was not until more than 2 hours later (around 4:00 p.m. the same day) that the body of the victim Vi Van May was found 30 meters from the original boat location.

Mr. Vi Van May (born in 1985), residing in Xieng Huong village, Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong district, has a wife and 2 children, and his family is in difficult circumstances.
Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper at the discussion group session of the 9th Provincial People's Council meeting, Major General Nguyen Huu Cau, Director of Nghe An Police, said that the investigation agency has initiated a case to investigate the incident of Nam Non Hydropower Plant releasing water without notice, causing death. Nghe An Police is also mobilizing an unprecedented force to investigate violations of hydropower projects in the area.
