(Baonghean.vn) - This year's grand ceremony to pray for the souls of fallen heroes and martyrs at the Vietnam-Laos International Cemetery will be held over three days (from July 19-21).

On the morning of July 19th, at the Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province, in coordination with the People's Committee of Anh Son district, organized a memorial service for the heroic martyrs in commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs.

Attending the event were members of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province; and Buddhists of Anh Son district. Representing Anh Son district were: Mr. Nguyen Huu Sang - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee; and Mr. Dang Xuan Quang - Member of the District Party Committee.Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Vice ChairmanPeople's Committee of the district; representatives from several district-level departments and agencies.

The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 11,000 heroic martyrs, including Vietnamese soldiers, experts, and volunteers from 47 provinces and cities across the country, who sacrificed their lives for the duty of defending the Fatherland and for the international friendship between Vietnam and Laos. Among them, more than 3,000 graves have been identified, and nearly 7,000 graves belong to martyrs whose names are unknown.

A large number of monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers attended the ceremony.
At the memorial service, delegates performed traditional rituals including offering incense to pay respects to the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroes and martyrs; commemorating the heroes and martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the nation, and for noble international duties.
