Opening of Blood Donation Festival 'Nghe An Red Drops' 2019

(Baonghean.vn) - The 2019 “Giọt hồng xua Nghệ” blood donation festival is an activity in response to the 2019 “Red Journey” program to Nghe An. The festival will take place on July 20, in Vinh city.

On the evening of July 19, Nghe An Department of Health coordinated with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize the Gala "For the health of Vietnamese blood", to communicate about thalassemia and to open the blood donation festival "Giot Hong Xu Nghe" 2019. The Gala night is an activity in response to the "Red Journey" program to Nghe An.

Attending the Gala night were Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh - Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Red Journey" Program in 2019; Dr. Tran Ngoc Que - Deputy Director of the National Blood Center; Dr. Tran Minh Tue - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health; many volunteers and patients being treated at the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center of Nghe An province.

"Red Journey" is a national humanitarian campaign directed by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation with the sponsorship of central ministries and branches. The campaign's core mission is to mobilize the entire population to participate in humanitarian blood donation and prevent and combat the congenital hemolytic disease - Thalassemia.

The campaign is carried out periodically every July, chaired and organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in coordination with the official central sponsoring units, which are ministries, departments and branches members of the National Steering Committee.

2019 is the 7th consecutive year that the "Red Journey" Program has been organized. This year, Nghe An is one of 40 provinces and cities participating. Accompanying the "Red Journey" Program, over the past years, Nghe An has actively participated. The voluntary blood donation movement in the province has continuously developed widely, with the participation of a large number of people. The amount of blood collected always exceeds the set plan, higher than the national average. In 2018, Nghe An mobilized 32,739 units of blood. In the first 6 months of 2019, Nghe An mobilized 15,658 units of blood.

Welcoming the “Red Journey” Program to Nghe An, the Gala night was organized with the purpose of expressing determination, affirming attitude, spirit and responsibility for voluntary blood donation; calling on people to donate blood to meet the amount of blood for emergency and treatment during the summer; as well as propagating to everyone about congenital hemolytic disease, genetic blood clotting disorders. And following the Gala night is the blood donation festival “Giot Hong Xu Nghe” 2019 which will take place on July 20. The goal of the festival is to collect 1,200 units of blood.

During the Gala night, there were many performances with the participation of officers and staff of Nghe An Provincial Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center, as well as volunteers of Nghe An province, singers of the "Red Journey" Program in 2019.
