Danger lurks for people at Black Bridge intersection
(Baonghean.vn) - "There is not a day when there are no traffic accidents in this area, sometimes there are up to 2 accidents a day. We have submitted petitions for many years but no one has resolved the issue," people living near Black Bridge are upset.

The project to build the Black Bridge across the Thap Canal connecting Phuong Hoang Street, Trung Do Ward, Vinh City to Hamlet 8, Hung Loi Commune, Hung Nguyen District, is invested by the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen District. The project was expected to be completed in June 2013, but the road was not opened until 2016. Since then, people have had difficulty crossing the Black Bridge because the bridge is too high, while the road surface is too low. Photo: Pham Bang |

People riding bicycles to cross the bridge must get off and walk. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, a resident of Hung Loi commune, Hung Nguyen, said that the slope leading to the bridge is too steep, combined with the road being full of small rocks due to the lack of asphalt, causing her to fall many times. At the bridge abutment, the difference between the bridge deck and the road surface is very high, causing danger to traffic participants. Photo: Pham Bang |

But the most worrying thing is that the two intersections have become black spots for traffic accidents for many years. A tanker truck had to brake suddenly in the middle of the slope when the driver suddenly saw a cyclo driver in front. Photo: Pham Bang |

At this intersection, there are still 3 households that have not been cleared, so a corner of the curve is blocked from view. According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ky - Secretary of the Party Cell 3, Trung Do Ward (Vinh City), traffic accidents here happen "every day". There are days when 2-3 accidents occur, although no one has died, many people have broken legs and arms. Photo: Pham Bang |

People have sent petitions to authorities at all levels requesting to resolve this black spot of traffic accidents, but for many years, nothing has changed. Ms. Ha Thi Van, who lives near the bridge, said that as long as she lives here, her family's lives will hang in the balance, because trucks can crash into her house at any time. Photo: Pham Bang |

This is the route where trucks carrying goods and construction materials run day and night. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ky said that the busiest times are from 10am to 3pm and from 6pm to 9pm, because at that time drivers run to avoid the authorities. Due to the high number of vehicles, dust, noise pollution, and the risk of traffic accidents affect the daily life, health, and lives of people. Photo: Pham Bang |

There are still 3 households that need to be cleared to expand the Den Bridge intersection, but both Vinh City and Hung Nguyen District are still struggling to figure out what to do, while Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong once assigned that it must be completed before May 30, 2019.
