Build a villa, buy a car, live a luxurious life… just thanks to a song
There are singers who work hard all their lives in the arts, but in the end they live a frugal life like many other ordinary people. There are singers who are new to the profession, but thanks to one song, their lives have changed, "one step to heaven".

Vinh Thuyen Kim changed his life thanks to the song Teen Vong Co. |
Make a fortune with just one hit song
Recently, talking on television, Vinh Thuyen Kim said that when the song “Vong co teen” became a “phenomenon”, she was so in demand that she had to get an IV every day. Every time she landed, she had to immediately find a place to get an IV because she was so tired.
“But that was also the time when I was happiest. Many nights singing at fairs, I stood on stage in front of 10,000 people, while the big artists had about 15 to 20,000 people. The audience was not only large but also enthusiastic, giving me more spirit and fire to sing. There were times when I accepted 11 performances in one night, singing continuously.
Because I sang so much, I couldn't interact with the audience. The MC introduced me and I rushed up to sing. After I finished singing, I had to rush down, talk quickly like a machine, and then go down.
In my head, I kept thinking that I had nearly ten “numbers” left, so I was in a hurry. Because I had so many “numbers” at a time like that, I had money to buy a house. Up to now, I have had to change more than 10 generations of cars of all kinds,” Vinh Thuyen Kim revealed.
Singer Duy Manh also said that before becoming a “hot” name associated with the song “Kiếp đỏ đen”, he performed at tea rooms in Saigon and was only paid 80,000 to 100,000 VND. And when the album with the song “Kiếp đỏ đen” was released, his life changed. Just a few months after its release, his salary increased exactly 1,000 times compared to before.
“There was a time when I earned 100 million VND in one night of singing. One of the things that changed me the most was that money and fame came to me so suddenly. At that time, I was 30 years old, had a family, and even though I lost control, I still thought about my family a lot. In life, the things that changed me were the emotions related to love and money,” Duy Manh said.
Singer Lam Truong revealed that he has many unforgettable memories with the first products in his singing career, one of which is the song “Xin dung hoi”. In 1996, he earned a contract worth up to 20 million VND. 20 million VND at that time was truly a huge amount for a young singer like him.
Specifically, this amount of money can be compared to the most fashionable and expensive car of the 1990s, the Dream II imported from Thailand, which cost less than 20 million VND. The Dream II was a large asset (worth dozens of taels of gold - equivalent to a piece of land) that only the "rich" could afford to buy and was considered a way to show wealth and power. Until now, Lam Truong still remembers the feeling of happiness when earning such a large amount of money.
Race to create "hit" songs to become stars?
Nowadays, although the story of singers making a lot of money from a song has “changed unpredictably” more than before, the story of many songs that have contributed to bringing singers from “darkness” to “light” remains the same. The case of Only C is a typical example.
Before becoming known for the song “Anh khong doi qua”, this guy was still a music producer and worked mainly in the studio. When this song was released, OnlyC did not have as much time in the studio as before because he was busy with shows, filming and taking photos...
Even Son Tung MTP himself, before becoming a "phenomenon" in the music industry as he is now, had appeared in many places but not many people were interested. The singer from Thai Binh even often hung out at sidewalk cafes, watched movies, ate snacks... but still did not make many people curious.
It was not until 2014, when “Em cua ngay hom qua” took online music sites by storm and set a record for the number of listens, that Son Tung naturally became an explosive name. Now, inviting Son Tung to sing or attend events is no longer as easy as before. Not to mention the pay has increased dozens of times.
Before Son Tung, young singers like Yanbi - Mr. T, Justatee, Bich Phuong Idol... also changed their lives thanks to owning a hit song. Even creating a "hit" song to become a star or change their life is the goal of most young singers. Because with a famous song, singers not only have more invitations to perform, have an excuse to increase their salary, but also have an easier time implementing music projects.
People's Artist Thanh Hoa once shared that in her time, singing was just singing, there was never any calculation when it came to art. Being famous or having your name associated with a song was completely given by God. Now things are different. A "hit" song is still given by God because sometimes even if you try your best and God doesn't give it to you, it's not easy to "make a difference".
But young singers and musicians do not passively wait for the opportunity to come, they have proactively sought out “hit” songs in a calculated way. Sometimes it is a suffocating calculation by the composer, the singer, and the producer. Some young musicians have even come up with a formula to create a hit song.
Musician Nguyen Van Chung also believes that with the constant development of today's music market, if singers just sit still and pray for luck, it will be difficult for them to make their name stand out. Creating a hit song is not simply to make money but also shows the singer's vision for the market they want to conquer.
And the fact that many singers are entering the race to create a “hit” will invisibly create an underground competition among themselves. It creates diversity for the music market but will also create a harsh environment of elimination. Those who can withstand the pressure of competition will have a place, those who cannot will have to find another way.
