Promoting Vietnam - Laos press cooperation in the digital media era
(Baonghean.vn) - Attending the International Press Conference with the theme "Vietnamese - Laotian Press in the Digital Media Era", delegates presented initiatives and experiences in attracting the press public and methods to promote press cooperation between the two countries in the digital media era.
On the morning of July 26, in Cua Lo town, the Vietnam Journalists Association in collaboration with the Lao Journalists Association organized an International Journalism Conference with the theme "Vietnamese - Lao press in the digital media era".
Attending on behalf of the Lao Journalists Association was Mr. Savankhone Razmountry - Deputy Minister of Sports, Culture and Tourism, President of the Lao Journalists Association.
On the side of the Vietnam Journalists Association, there were comrades: Thuan Huu - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Nguyen The Ky - Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee for Propaganda and Education; leaders of Cua Lo town.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, journalist Thuan Huu - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed that Vietnam and Laos are two neighboring countries; the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries have a special friendship and solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, close attachment and loyalty. The press of both Vietnam and Laos carry out the noble mission of being an essential means of information for social life, a mouthpiece of the Party and State, and a forum for the people.

The Vietnam and Laos Journalists Associations have a tradition of cooperation and friendship, contributing significantly to strengthening the relationship between the two countries. The Journalists Associations of the two countries have had many forms of close coordination in providing comprehensive information on the political, economic and social life of the two countries in the process of national construction and innovation.
In addition to exchanging information, the Vietnam and Laos Journalists Associations also cooperate in training in journalism, improving the professionalism and professional ethics of journalists in each country, grasping and accessing multimedia journalism training, and keeping up with the development trends of modern journalism in the region and the world.

President of the Lao Journalists Association Savankhone Razmountry emphasized that the press of both countries has the duty to truthfully inform about the situation of the country and the world in accordance with the interests of the country and the people; contribute to building and protecting the guidelines and policies of the Party and State; and be a forum to exercise the freedom of speech of the people of each country. The press also contributes to expanding mutual understanding between countries and peoples, participating in the cause of the world's people for peace, national independence, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.

This is also an opportunity for the two Associations and the press of the two countries to exchange experiences in building a press in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution and the digital media era; an opportunity to exchange, learn and share professional experiences between journalists of the two countries, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in the new situation.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony for journalists from the two countries attending the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong affirmed the tradition of deep attachment and the strategic position of "standing shoulder to shoulder" of Nghe An with the neighboring provinces of Laos. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong commented that the Vietnam - Laos International Journalism Conference is a professional activity of practical significance for journalists from each country; at the same time, this is an opportunity for the Party Committee and people of Nghe An to affirm their efforts and endeavors in contributing to building a good relationship between the two peoples and two states of Vietnam and Laos.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing, analyzing, and clarifying the topic of how to do journalism in the digital media era. Journalists, experts, and press managers also spent time discussing and clarifying the challenges facing journalism in the context of global digital media, both in terms of press management, professional activities, and professional ethics.
Journalists from both countries also expressed their views, offered initiatives and experiences in attracting the press public and ways to promote press cooperation between the two countries.
