Arrested 2 suspects of organizing surrogacy ring

During a surprise administrative inspection of a room in a mini apartment building, authorities discovered many pregnant women living there, with suspicious signs of being surrogate mothers.

Information from Quang Ninh Provincial Police said that on August 14, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, the accused, and execute a temporary detention order against Tran Thi Ba (born in 1991, living in Zone 8, Cao Thang Ward, Ha Long City) to investigate the act of "Organizing surrogacy for commercial purposes".

Regarding the incident, the police also detained Vu Nga Linh (born in 1988, living in group 9, Tran Hung Dao area, Cam Thach ward, Cam Pha city).

Previously, on August 7, the Criminal Police Department, Provincial Police coordinated with Ha Long City Police to conduct a surprise administrative inspection at room 501, Cao Thang mini apartment building (at number 58B, zone 6, Cao Thang ward, Ha Long city).

Here, the authorities discovered that in addition to Tran Thi Ba, there were 8 other women (all from the South) living here but had no temporary residence registration, showing many suspicious signs.

In particular, there are 3 pregnant women: Nguyen Pham Minh T. (born in 1993, in Tien Giang province, 7 weeks pregnant), Nguyen Thi S. (born in 1989, in Gia Lai province, 14 weeks pregnant) and Nguyen Thi Hoa (born in 1986, in Lam Dong province, 20 weeks pregnant).

Expanding the investigation, the Investigation Police Agency continued to arrest Vu Nga Linh, Linh was identified as a subject related to the above case.

The police then handed over the eight women to the provincial Social Work Center. Currently, the health of the eight women is good and their mental health is stable.
