On August 12, 2019, the President signed Decisions No. 1358/QD-CTN and 1359/QD-CTN officially conferring the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist on 391 artists.
In Decision No. 1359/QD-CTN, the President conferred the title of People's Artist on 79 individuals and posthumously conferred the title on 5 individuals who have made many contributions to the cause of building and developing the nation's culture.
The list of artists awarded the title of People's Artist includes many names that are admired by the public such as Meritorious Artist To Lan Phuong, Ro Cham Phiang, Ta Minh Tam, Do Quoc Hung (music field); Meritorious Artist Tran Manh Cuong, Nguyen Thuy Van, Chau Thi Kim Xuan (cinema field); Meritorious Artist Trong Trinh (radio-television field); Meritorious Artists Minh Vuong, Thanh Tuan, Thanh Ngoan, Dong Thi Thu Ha (Thu Ha "Leaves of jade, branches of gold"), Bui Trung Anh, Minh Hang, Cong Ly, Tran Hanh, Viet Anh, veteran artist Tran Hanh, Thanh Tuan (theater field)...
Five individuals were posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist, including: Meritorious Artist Tran Quang Hung; Meritorious Artist Nguyen Dang Toan; Meritorious Artist Bui Cuong; Meritorious Artist Doan Anh Tuan; Meritorious Artist Tran Ngoc Chau (Giang Chau).
