Leaders of the Department of Animal Health, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tay Ninh province and Vinamilk Company signed a cooperation agreement to build a safe dairy farming area (2019 - 2022 period).

This cooperation aims to successfully build a disease-free dairy farming area according to the regulations of Vietnam and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) as well as meet the requirements of importing countries. Thereby, ensuring sustainable livestock development, increasing product value, providing safe products for domestic consumption and meeting international export requirements.

It is expected that by December 2022, the dossier to request OIE to evaluate and recognize the disease-free dairy farming area for Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province will be completed. Once successfully built, this will be a model to continue to replicate in the province and research and build for localities with dairy farming industry.

Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Pham Van Dong - Director of the Department of Animal Health and the delegation visited Vinamilk's Global GAP-standard dairy cow "Resort" in Tay Ninh.

Mr. Pham Van Dong - Director of the Department of Animal Health of Tay Ninh said: "Building a disease-free area for dairy cows to ensure safety for domestic consumers and promote the export of dairy products from Vietnam to other countries is very important. The successful construction of a disease-free dairy cow farming area according to this project will create a premise for the locality to continue building safe farming areas, not only for dairy cows but also for livestock and poultry in Tay Ninh province. At the same time, building awareness among farmers and professional agencies to promote the construction of more facilities and disease-free areas across the country, towards proposing to the World Organization for Animal Health for recognition. Specifically, in the process of building a disease-free area, the Department of Animal Health will act as a management agency, providing specific instructions on the design and implementation of biosafety procedures, disease surveillance, information management, and traceability in accordance with OIE standards, European requirements and other countries…”.

On the side of Tay Ninh province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be responsible for advising the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province to direct specialized agencies and authorities at all levels to organize the construction of disease-free zones for livestock. At the same time, deploy inspection, supervision, and strengthen the grassroots veterinary network to monitor and prevent diseases; Support vaccination and disease prevention and control; Organize information and propaganda, and guide livestock farms in the region on the prevention and control of animal diseases in general, especially diseases in dairy cows...

Vinamilk currently has a system of 12 high-tech dairy farms across the country, all of which are certified as disease-free facilities according to the regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. As a pioneer in developing high-tech dairy farming in Vietnam, with experience and resources in human resources, technology, etc., Vinamilk will coordinate with the locality in professional work and guide farmers, gradually building a disease-free dairy farming area around the farm recognized by the OIE.

In Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province, Vinamilk currently has 01 Global GAP-standard dairy farm with a scale of up to 8,000 cows and calves, applying modern 4.0 technology. In addition to signing contracts to purchase corn and grass for cow feed and milk from cooperative households, Vinamilk has actively coordinated with dairy farming households that cooperate with the Company to ensure disease safety. This is a favorable premise for expansion to neighboring buffer zones and towards building a disease-safe zone in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.

Vinamilk determines that building a disease-free buffer zone is also very necessary to minimize the risk of pathogens from outside entering the farm and the Company's production chain. Therefore, it can be said that disease-free dairy farming areas that are built and recognized will bring common benefits to all parties, towards the sustainable development of the Vietnamese dairy farming industry.”

Vinamilk's system of dairy farms across the country, which is continuing to expand, is oriented to be the core to build disease-free zones in many localities, aiming to expand fresh milk material areas that meet international standards in Vietnam, providing quality milk products that meet international standards, meeting domestic consumption needs and expanding export markets.
