Pretending to be looking for lost buffalo, 8 illegal loggers caught with homemade guns and drugs in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Discovering illegal loggers, the working group of Cam Muon commune (Que Phong district) and the local forest rangers pretended to be people looking for lost buffaloes to approach. Afterwards, they arrested 3 groups of illegal loggers consisting of 8 subjects.
Que Phong District Police in coordination with relevant agencies have just completed the scene investigation and are continuing to investigate the illegal deforestation in Cam Muon Commune by 3 groups and 8 individuals.
Previously, on July 22, 2019, the Forest Rangers of Cam Muon commune received information that some people living in Tuong Duong district were illegally logging in the natural forest area of sub-region 144, which is managed by Cam Muon commune.
Immediately afterwards, the People's Committee of Cam Muon commune and the local forest rangers established a working group of 9 people, planning to patrol the area where they received reports of illegal logging.

Arriving at the location as reported, the task force discovered 3 groups, including 8 subjects using chainsaws to cut down trees in the forest. To avoid detection, the task force took advantage of the time when the subjects were cutting down trees to approach. When confronted, they said the buffalo was lost and had been butchered, so they went to look for it. Afterwards, they arrested the subjects.
Thanks to this measure, all 3 groups and 8 illegal loggers were arrested by the task force. Checking the camp of the subjects, the task force seized 2 homemade guns, 13 small packages of drugs and 4 chainsaws.

At the scene, the working group determined that 8 subjects had cut down 3 trees and sawn them into panels with a total volume of more than 1,646m3 of wood (including dổi, de and cinnamon wood).
Learning more, it is known that after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Que Phong district assessed that this was a case with many complicated details, the illegal logging subjects were from outside the area, used weapons and drugs...
Therefore, in the past time, the local forces have coordinated with the provincial authorities to expand the inspection and examination of the entire sub-area 144. Thereby, it was discovered that 68 trees (including 42 newly cut trees) were cut down for timber; there were 191 wooden boards scattered in 13 locations.
Que Phong District Police have initiated criminal proceedings against three suspects for illegal possession of drugs and are continuing to investigate the illegal deforestation.
