Nghe An: Over 13 thousand pigs infected with African swine fever destroyed
(Baonghean.vn) - As of August 23, 167 communes in Nghe An have recorded African swine fever, with a total of 13,383 pigs culled, weighing 614,768 kg.

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, in March 2019, Nghe An's total pig herd was nearly 100,000 pigs. By August 23, African swine fever had occurred in 3,065 households, 545 hamlets, 167 communes, 18 districts, towns and cities in Nghe An. The total number of pigs culled was 13,383, with a total weight of 614,768 kg. Thus, the number of pigs culled accounted for nearly 1.5% of the province's total pig herd.
Currently, 119 communes (of 18 districts, cities, and towns) have announced the end of the epidemic, of which 10 communes have had a relapse within 30 days.
There are 58 communes in 11 districts where the epidemic has not passed 30 days: Quynh Luu (4 communes), Tan Ky (4 communes), Hoang Mai Town (1 ward), Nam Dan (3 communes), Do Luong (6 communes), Thanh Chuong (1 commune), Dien Chau (9 communes), Hung Nguyen (2 communes), Ky Son (6 communes), Yen Thanh (17 communes), Que Phong (5 communes).

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: Currently, the epidemic is complicated in some key communes in Yen Thanh, Quynh Luu, Do Luong, Nam Dan, and Hung Nguyen districts.
Currently, there are 3 districts and towns of Nghe An that have not had African swine fever: Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa Town and Cua Lo Town; There are 7 districts that have been free of the epidemic: Anh Son, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Nghi Loc, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Vinh City.
