The test launch was overseen by leader Kim Jong-un, KCNA said, adding that the launch confirmed all the technical and tactical specifications of the new system.
On the morning of August 24, Pyongyang launched two unidentified projectiles into the Sea of Japan from its eastern province of South Hamgyong. The projectiles, believed to be short-range ballistic missiles, flew 380 km at a maximum altitude of 97 km, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.
This is the latest test launch carried out by North Korea after the joint military exercises between the US and South Korea ended. Previously, US President Donald Trump said that Mr. Kim Jong Un had promised to stop the test launches and start negotiations as soon as the joint US-South Korea exercises ended.
