Defeating Thailand, Vietnam women's team wins Southeast Asian championship
(Baonghean.vn) - Before the two men's teams of the two countries faced each other in the World Cup qualifiers, the women's teams of Vietnam and Thailand faced each other in the final match of the 2019 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
Right in the first minute of the match, the captain of the Vietnamese women's team, striker Huynh Nhu, created the first notable situation of the match when she attempted to cross from the left wing, but in this phase, the Thai defense played very focused to block it.
After gradually getting back into the rhythm of the match, the Thai women's team responded and created an open attacking game throughout the first half. Unfortunately, the finishing situations of both teams were not difficult enough to change the scoreboard before entering the break between the two halves.

In the second half, the two teams continued to create an open game, but while the attacking players of the Vietnamese women's team were quite unlucky in front of Yada's goal, on the opposite side, the girls in red who were tasked with scoring goals were not much better. The two teams had to enter extra time when the 90 minutes ended without any goals being scored.
Entering the extra time, Huynh Nhu unexpectedly scored the opening goal for the Vietnamese women's team. That was a situation where Bich Thuy crossed from the right wing for Huynh Nhu to score neatly to open the score for the white team. However, after scoring, the striker of the Vietnamese women's team took off his shirt to celebrate and received a second yellow card and had to leave the field.

Despite being short-handed, in the remaining minutes of extra time, coach Mai Duc Chung's students still played calmly and confidently to preserve the fragile score, thereby winning the 2019 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
