Cuba's National Nomination Committee (CCN) has been officially established to prepare for the election process for state leadership positions.
It is expected that at the end of October, the Cuban National Assembly will hold an extraordinary session to elect positions such as president, vice president and other members of the State Council.
CCN members include seven representatives from the Cuban General Confederation of Labor (CTC), the Cuban Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the Cuban Women's Federation (FMC), the National Association of Small Farmers, the University Students' Federation and the High School Students' Federation.
Representatives of the above-mentioned political organizations and mass associations are appointed by the national, provincial and district leaderships.
CCN President Maria Consuelo Bazea Martin received the certificate on behalf of the commission and took the oath of office in the presence of Cuban Secretary of the Council of State Homero Acosta and President of the National Electoral Commission Alina Balseiro Gutierrez.
According to the Cuban Electoral Law, the CCN is responsible for preparing and presenting proposals for candidates for the National Assembly.
In addition, this committee is also tasked with presenting drafts of candidates for the positions of National Assembly Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary of the National Assembly; preparing and presenting drafts of candidates, as nominated by the National Assembly, for the positions of State President, Vice President and other members of the State Council./.
