(Baonghean.vn) - US media recently reported that US prosecutors are investigating cases of technology "theft" related to Chinese telecommunications equipment corporation Huawei.

Huawei is facing allegations that it stole intellectual property from individuals and companies over several years and recruited employees from its competitors. Most recently, US prosecutors said they are investigating aspects of Huawei’s business that were not mentioned in the indictment released earlier this year.

Huawei and the US Department of Justice have both declined to comment on the matter. In January, the US Department of Justice charged Huawei and its chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, with violating US sanctions against Iran by doing business with Tehran through a subsidiary that the company attempted to conceal. The US has also accused the company of a range of industrial espionage, fraud, obstruction of justice and theft of trade secrets.

The move is part of a broader push by the United States against Huawei, the world's largest maker of telecommunications network equipment. Huawei has repeatedly denied allegations that it is controlled by the Chinese government, military or intelligence services.

In addition, in May, the administration of US President Donald Trump blacklisted Huawei for national security reasons. This move prohibits US companies from selling most US parts and components to Huawei without a special license.

It seemed like things would get easier for Huawei after the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Trump on the sidelines of the G-20 in Japan in late June. At that time, Mr. Trump said that US companies could continue to sell to Huawei as a goodwill measure by Washington in an effort to restart US trade negotiations, along with the director of the US National Economic Council, Mr. Larry Kudlow, saying that the US Department of Commerce would extend the licensing process for Huawei for 3 months as a goodwill gesture in an effort to resume larger trade negotiations with China.

However, shortly after Mr Kudlow spoke, President Trump said he did not want the US to do business with the Chinese company Huawei. “At this point, we probably won’t do business with them anymore. I don’t want to do business with them because it’s a national security threat, and I believe the media reported it a little differently.”
