At the time of discovery, the body was wearing a raincoat, black shorts, and flip-flops, lying on its back under a bamboo bush about 10 meters from Highway 48D, in a bloated and decomposed state.

Previously, on the afternoon of August 27, an officer of the Quy Hop Water Plant discovered a Dream motorbike without a license plate parked next to the railing of Highway 48D, about 10 meters from where the body was found. On August 29, the motorbike was still parked there, so the police were notified.

On the afternoon of August 31, after seeing the announcement from the Quy Hop District Police, the victim's family came to receive the body. According to the family, Mr. Tam had left home for more than a week and there was no news. The authorities handed over the body to the family for burial.

Initial assessment of the cause of Mr. Tam's death was drug shock.
