Ukraine unexpectedly changes its armed forces command system.
(Baonghean.vn) - Ukraine will proceed with separating the positions of Chief of General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

According to Igor Kolesnik, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, this difference will improve the command system and strengthen the control of the country's military.
"This will clearly define roles: who is responsible for training and who controls the use of the armed forces," Deputy Chief of the General Staff Igor Kolesnik expressed his confidence.
Previously, many believed that the Commander-in-Chief, under the Ministry of Defense, held the role of commanding the armed forces; meanwhile, the General Staff would be the agency that advised and implemented the Commander-in-Chief's decisions.
Mr. Kolesnik noted that this separation and allocation would be finalized before the end of 2019.
Since May 2019, Lieutenant General Ruslan Khomchak has held the position of Chief of the General Staff, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
