(Baonghean.vn) - At the age of 8, Dao Van Thang in block 1B, Anh Son town, should be in great need of his father's education and his mother's love, but he does not have that. His mother passed away from a serious illness 2 years ago, and last March, his father also left him forever due to a sudden death. Now, he is living with his elderly grandmother.

We went to Dao Van Thang's house one evening and saw the two grandmothers and grandchildren picking vegetables together to prepare dinner. Everyone was moved.

Dao Van Thang is an orphan and has to depend on his grandmother.
Inviting us into her house for a drink, Mrs. Hoang Thi Nghia tearfully told us about her poor nephew's misfortune: Thang's father and mother came together when both had made mistakes.

In 2010, after a period of getting to know each other and showing affection for each other, Mr. Dao Van Hung (Thang's father) got married to Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen (Thang's mother). Their happiness was doubled when 1 year later, Mr. Hung and Ms. Yen gave birth to Thang. Although they came together in a difficult situation, Thang's parents still loved each other, encouraged each other to work hard and work so that their child's future would be less miserable.

It seemed that the peaceful and happy life would last forever, but in mid-2017, a sudden disaster struck Mrs. Nghia's family. During a bout of illness, Thang's mother discovered that she had stomach cancer. The whole family was shocked, along with the worry of finding money for treatment, hoping that Yen would regain her health to live with her father and son. Although the whole family and relatives tried every way to save her, Nguyen Thi Yen passed away in July 2017. That year, Thang was only 6 years old and about to enter first grade.

Although he is only in third grade, Thang already knows how to help his grandmother with housework.

Since his wife passed away, Mr. Dao Van Hung has tried to overcome the pain and loss to take care of his young child and his old mother. The neighbors all sympathized with the situation of the three grandmothers, grandchildren, father and son. From a happy and full home, suddenly lost the hands of a mother and a wife.

Since that day, Thang seemed to be aware of his situation and helped his father and grandmother with housework. It was thought that all the pain would stop there, but last March, Dao Van Hung suddenly passed away. So Dao Van Thang became an orphan, having to depend on his grandmother. Mrs. Nghia choked up and said: I am old and weak, nearly 80 years old this year, I don't know when I will live or die, what I worry about most is Thang's future, who will he depend on?

Dao Van Thang's situation really needs the help of philanthropists and the community.

Ms. Nguyen Nhu Quynh - a neighbor said: The situation of the two grandmothers and grandchildren is very pitiful. Within 2 years, at an age when he only cares about eating and playing, Thang has had to bear two consecutive great losses. Since his father passed away, Thang has lived with his grandmother who is nearly 80 years old, she is old and weak, one leg is paralyzed and has difficulty walking. Mrs. Nghia can only rely on the monthly paralysis allowance of 540,000 VND.

The worst part was when she wanted to buy some food for her grandchild, because she couldn’t go to the market, she had to ask one person or another to send it to her. Thang’s food, clothes, and education were on Mrs. Nghia’s shoulders. In the new school year, everyone in the neighborhood sympathized with the situation of the grandmother and grandchild, so some bought Thang school clothes, some bought him books…

Currently, Thang's family situation is very difficult. In the past, the Anh Son town government and organizations and unions have often come to encourage, visit and give priority and help. However, the road ahead is a long and difficult one, and we really need the help of philanthropists and the community so that Thang can overcome the pain of loss and continue his dream at school for a better future.
