The owner of the pair of yellow croakers said that the boat had been out at sea for more than a week, fishing about 8 nautical miles from the mainland. On the evening of September 13, the crew pulled the net onto the boat and discovered two live yellow croakers, so they immediately put them in the ice cellar for preservation.

Mr. Vo Cong Truong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dat Mui Commune, said that fishermen in the southernmost region of the country often catch yellow croaker fish, but this is the biggest pair ever.

The golden croaker (also known as the yellowfin croaker, or sugar fish) has the scientific name Otolithoides biauritus. This is the largest fish in the croaker family, belonging to the perch order, distributed in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and China.

The golden croaker lives in the sea but often enters estuaries to breed. Its meat is delicious and its swim bladder is used to make absorbable sutures in medicine.
