On the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly meeting on September 25, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that the US joining the "Normandy Format" (including Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France) is not in the plans for the near future.

"We will have a meeting in the Normandy format, the four leaders of the countries will focus on the discussion. We are waiting for a specific date," President Zelensky said. Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the meeting of the leaders of the Normandy format group will be held in the next few weeks.

President Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is a strong country and will not ask the US for any support. "Once again, we can talk about support. However, it is not Ukraine that offers support," Zelensky affirmed, in reference to US President Donald Trump's announcement to stop allocating financial support to Kiev.

On September 24, US President Donald Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly that Washington did not want to carry the "burden" of financial support for Ukraine.

President Trump noted that the United States has the right to suspend all aid until the European Union begins providing additional aid to Ukraine.

"From the beginning, we were unhappy with the fact that the United States allocated funds to Ukraine, and not to countries in the European Union, including Germany and France," President Trump said.
