The Investigation Police Agency of Dien Chau District Police said that it has just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an order to temporarily detain Le Van Hung (born in 1992, residing in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district) for the crime of Robbery of property against a person under 16 years old.

Previously, Dien Chau District Police received many reports about many children playing on the street when a young man approached them and robbed them of their necklaces.

Specifically, at around 3:00 p.m. on September 1, 2019, at the Trung Yen hamlet cultural house, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district, Dam Van N. (born in 2012) was walking alone from the cultural house when a stranger hugged him from behind and took away the white metal chain around his neck, then ran away.

More than an hour later, when Nguyen Van V. (born in 2010) and Nguyen Le T. (born in 2008) were walking from the Trung Yen hamlet cultural house to the inter-commune road, a stranger driving a motorbike followed behind them, suddenly stopped the motorbike and approached V. V. was hugged from behind by this person, pressed down on the road and had the white metal necklace he was wearing removed from his neck.

During the investigation, Dien Chau District Police continued to receive reports of many similar robberies. It was determined that these robberies could be committed by one person, so Dien Chau District Police established Project 919C to combat them.

Many experienced detectives and investigators were deployed to the case, coordinating with the Commune Police Department to investigate and clarify the case. Through the information provided by the victims, combined with the investigative clues, the police identified Le Van Hung (born in 1992, residing in Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district) as the suspect in the above robberies.

While the Task Force was investigating, at 4:00 p.m. on September 7, 2019, they continued to receive information that a young child was playing at Dien Bich fishing port when a subject came and robbed the necklace he was wearing around his neck.

The task force immediately divided into many working groups to quickly arrive at the scene, set up checkpoints at intersections to arrest him. When Le Van Hung moved to Tay Loc hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, he saw the police and jumped off his motorbike to escape.

Two days later, Hung was arrested while hiding in Block 3, Dien Chau town. Police seized a silver-white metal necklace.

At the investigation agency, Le Van Hung confessed to all his crimes and said that because he was addicted to drugs but had no stable job, he decided to rob property.

Hung targeted unattended children wearing valuable jewelry. Hung confessed to committing 7 robberies. Hung sold the stolen items to buy drugs and spend the money.
