List of 173 hamlets in 16 districts, cities, and towns in Nghe An province that have been renamed.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to resolutions passed by the Nghe An Provincial People's Council, 173 hamlets, villages, and residential areas (hereinafter referred to as hamlets) in 16 districts, cities, and towns in Nghe An have been renamed.
At its 9th session held last July, the 17th Provincial People's Council passed Resolution No. 08/NQ-HĐND on the merger and renaming of hamlets, blocks, and villages in communes, wards, and towns belonging to the districts of Con Cuong, Dien Chau, Do Luong, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Nghia Dan, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh and the towns of Cua Lo and Thai Hoa. Accordingly, 12 districts and towns proposed renaming a total of 127 hamlets.
Specifically, Dien Chau district has 18 hamlets, Do Luong district has 8 hamlets, Hung Nguyen district has 9 hamlets, Nam Dan district has 10 hamlets, Nghia Dan district has 17 hamlets, Quy Chau district has 5 hamlets, Quynh Luu district has 19 hamlets, Tan Ky district has 1 hamlet, Thanh Chuong district has 7 hamlets, Yen Thanh district has 29 hamlets, Cua Lo town has 3 hamlets, and Thai Hoa town has 1 hamlet.

Furthermore, in Resolution No. 16/NQ-HĐND dated September 25th of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council on the establishment, merger, and renaming of hamlets, blocks, villages, and residential areas in communes, wards, and towns belonging to the districts, cities, and towns of Anh Son, Nghi Loc, Quynh Luu, Que Phong, Dien Chau, Hoang Mai town, and Vinh city, which was approved by the 17th Provincial People's Council at its 10th session, five districts, cities, and towns proposed renaming their hamlets.
Specifically: Vinh City has 3 hamlets, Anh Son District has 8 hamlets, Nghi Loc District has 25 hamlets, Hoang Mai Town has 7 hamlets, and Dien Chau District has 3 hamlets.
The hamlets whose names were changed are those that were not merged; however, during the process of rearranging and merging hamlets, to align with local hamlet names and based on the recommendations of local voters, it was necessary to rename them. Before submitting them to the Provincial People's Council for approval, the Commune People's Council had already passed a resolution approving the renaming of the proposed hamlets.
