Major General Nguyen Huu Cau: Traffic police go out on the streets to ensure safety, not to find violators.
(Baonghean.vn) - The head of Nghe An Police said that punishing violations is only a last resort.
At a recent voter meeting in Con Cuong district, a voter expressed dissatisfaction with the traffic police entering small roads to arrest violators. National Assembly Representative Nguyen Huu Cau - Director of Nghe An Provincial Police Department immediately requested the Chief of Con Cuong District Police to directly explain this issue.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hai Dang - Head of Con Cuong District Police said that this issue stems from the traffic safety and order situation in the area, with many violators. Accidents not only occur on National Highway 7 but also on small roads. The district police have organized deep patrols to prevent accidents from afar... Lieutenant Colonel Dang also asked voters to cooperate in educating children, especially school-age children, to strictly comply with the Traffic Law.

Speaking directly at the conference hall about this issue, Major General Nguyen Huu Cau said that it is not wrong for traffic police to enter small alleys near people's houses to handle the law. "But you must remember this, the purpose of traffic police on the streets is to ensure smooth traffic safety, people's absolute safety, and best compliance with the law, not to find violators," the head of Nghe An Police emphasized.
“On small roads, if people make a slight mistake, we should remind and educate them. But if we drive into the neighborhood or into their homes, even though it is correct, it is offensive,” Major General Nguyen Huu Cau said and asked the District Police Chief to change the perception of his colleagues. Going out on the streets is to ensure safety, how can people be excited when they see the police? Punishing is only the last resort, a last resort.
He also suggested that the district police reduce the number of people running onto the streets in the hamlet, except in cases of robbery, theft, or resisting law enforcement officers, etc., which must be pursued and dealt with. “I once told the traffic police that when you go out on the street, you should only be good at seeing red-haired and blue-haired people who weave in and out of traffic, carry three or four people, and deliberately tease the traffic police so they can catch them. As for older people who commit minor violations, you should be reminded.”
