Young man who trafficked 'white goods', drove his car into the police and surrendered after 5 years on the run
(Baonghean.vn) - Being surrounded and arrested, Nguyen Van Dung crashed his car into the police force and then escaped. After 5 years of living in hiding, Dung went to the police station to surrender for the crimes of Illegal drug trafficking and Murder.
On October 10, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Nguyen Van Dung (born 1989), residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, for the crimes of illegal drug trafficking and murder.
Previously, in early 2014, Vinh City Police discovered a large-scale drug trafficking ring led by Dung, so they established a special project to fight and destroy it.

At the end of February 2014, the detectives determined that Dung and his accomplices were transporting drugs to Vinh City for sale, so they decided to crack the case.
When Dung and his accomplices appeared, the task force quickly chased and arrested them. When discovered, Dung drove his car straight into comrade Mai Chien Thang (at that time, Deputy Head of the Investigation Police Department of Vinh City Police), causing serious injuries to comrade Thang.
Despite being seriously injured, comrade Mai Chien Thang directed police officers to arrest the criminals. While his accomplices were arrested, Dung drove away.
After 5 years of being on the run under various guises, on April 12, 2019, Nguyen Van Dung came to the Nghe An Provincial Police Department to confess his crimes.
At the trial, due to the lack of important witnesses in the case, the representative of the People's Procuracy requested to postpone the trial. After the deliberation, the panel of judges determined that this was a complicated case, being brought to trial for the first time, so the court decided to postpone the trial.
