On October 22, the Washington Post published a speech by Bill Taylor, the US Ambassador to Ukraine. The diplomat mentioned the investigation into the Burisma energy company, where Hunter Biden, the son of the former US Vice President, worked. Accordingly, he emphasized that this was a condition for President Trump to meet with Ukrainian leader Zelensky.
"President Trump has done nothing wrong. The allegations are a coordinated campaign of slander from radical left-wing lawmakers and radical officials, working together against the Constitution. There is no such thing as 'returning favors'," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said, adding that President Trump has repeatedly denied the allegations.
Such “nonsense” will continue to happen every day, diplomat Grisham said, and more and more resources and time will be devoted to it.
In late September, the US Democratic Party began impeaching President Trump, accusing the president of trying to discredit former US Vice President Joe Biden - President Trump's main opponent in the upcoming presidential election.
The US leader asked Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden's son, who works at the energy company Burisma, or Ukraine would face the suspension of US military assistance.
The US President has repeatedly denied the allegations. According to Mr. Trump, it was former Vice President Biden who asked for the dismissal of the Ukrainian prosecutor general, who was conducting an investigation against the company of Joe Biden's son.
