Politicians have long argued that countries can cooperate in times of emergency. The operation to kill IS leader Baghdadi was a prime example of that cooperation. “However, Russia continues to pose a threat to the United States,” O’Brien said.

When our interests align with Russia's, there is no reason not to cooperate with them.

Previously, the operation to kill IS leader Baghdadi was approved by US President Donald Trump nearly a week ago, after US special forces received intelligence that the operation could be carried out.

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) helped locate the IS leader, the compound where Baghdadi was killed had been under surveillance for some time.

During the raid on October 26, President Trump gave highly reliable information that Baghdadi had been killed but needed further verification by DNA and biometrics, and affirmed that "it can be verified quickly and accurately".

On the Russian side, the country's Defense Ministry questioned the authenticity of the raid that killed the IS leader. According to the Defense Ministry's spokesman - Major General Igor Konashenkov, there is no reliable information about the existence of such a raid, whether it was the US military or the coalition airstrikes in Idlib in recent days.

In addition, Russia has not received any reports of US aircraft entering Syrian airspace.
