On the afternoon of October 29, a source from Nghe An Newspaper said that 4 more families in Nghe An reported that their children were missing in Europe, including the UK, bringing the total number of families reporting to 18. Ha Tinh has 10 families.

Meanwhile, speaking to the press on the sidelines of the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh said that the Citizen Protection Hotline under the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received information from 14 families requesting to search for and verify missing relatives in the UK.

This is the hotline to receive all complaints and calls related to the case of 39 people dying in a container in Essex county (suburbs of London).

However, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that nothing could be confirmed yet, and that it had to be sent to the UK for verification. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received and compiled the information and discussed it with the UK so that they could verify and re-examine all the contents to see if they matched the records of the victims in the container.

Earlier on the morning of October 23, Northern Irish driver Mo Robinson, 25, discovered 39 dead people when he opened the container door at the Waterglade Industrial Park. These people are believed to be on their way to enter the UK illegally.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has assigned the Ministry of Public Security to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Committees of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, and relevant localities and agencies to quickly verify the incident to take handling measures, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese and international law.

"If you come here, we will do everything we can to welcome you, help you through this process, identify as quickly as possible to see if anyone you know is involved in this tragedy," said Mr. Pasmore, (Chief Inspector of Essex Police, UK). Ms. Pippa Mills - Deputy Chief Constable of Essex Police also called on anyone with information about the case to contact the authorities "without fear", including those living illegally in the UK.
