More than 10 years ago, according to Decision No. 386/QD-SHTT dated May 31, 2007 of the Department of Intellectual Property on Granting Certificates of registration of geographical indications for Vinh oranges, there were only 5 districts: Tan Ky, Quy Hop, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, Nghia Dan, with an area of over 1,681 hectares. There were 3 orange varieties protected for geographical indications of Vinh oranges: Xa Doai, Van Du, Song Con.
The localities that have been granted additional Vinh orange geographical boundary certificates have met the wishes of orange growers up to now. After being certified with Vinh orange geographical boundary certificates, orange products of these localities have the opportunity to be promoted at fairs, and at the same time, have Vinh orange origin traceability stamps, in order to increase the value of oranges.
