(Baonghean.vn) - According to the spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) does not improve the situation in Ukraine, but on the contrary causes instability and provocative actions.

Earlier, the NATO delegation paid a two-day visit to Ukraine. During the visit, Kiev proposed that NATO move to a new level of cooperation and grant Ukraine Enhanced Opportunity Partner status.

"NATO continues its destructive actions, without any reconciliation, and is even becoming more serious as each step makes the situation more and more tense, including promises to Ukraine that NATO is always on Kiev's side," said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, pointing out that NATO's military actions in Kiev are only provocative and have a destabilizing effect.

According to Ms. Zakharova, the visit of the NATO delegation to Ukraine pursues a clear goal - to turn towards Ukraine in the spirit of the commitments from the 2008 NATO Summit, to consider the admission of Ukraine to NATO membership.

Speaking to the Ukrainian Parliament, Secretary General Stoltenberg stressed that NATO advisors will help Ukraine implement Euro-Atlantic principles, best practices to strengthen the rule of law, ensure minority rights and fight corruption.

Commenting on these statements, Russian diplomat Zakharova believes that this military alliance cannot solve Ukraine's existing problems, including domestic issues such as the fight against corruption, to reconciling conflicts and stabilizing the situation in the eastern region of Ukraine.

In addition, Ms. Maria Zakharova also pointed out that, after the visit to Ukraine, the NATO delegation made baseless accusations and statements against Russia. Accordingly, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman spoke out to refute the accusation that the internal conflict in Ukraine had been "distorted" into a conflict with Russia.

"It can be said that, with the impossibility of 'normal behavior' with Russia, and of course this will not happen until NATO changes its political mechanism and military policy, instead of pursuing the logic of the Cold War by exaggerating the 'threat from the East', it moves towards the common security interests of Europe" - Ms. Maria Zakharova emphasized.

Maria Zakharova commented that joining NATO will not help solve modern security problems, and even the appearance of Western "measures" will only make the already difficult situation on the European continent more complicated.
