Testimony of grandmother who killed her grandchild in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Province Police said that the grandmother confessed that due to family conflicts, she pushed her grandson into the dam, causing the victim's death.
Nghe An Police Department said that suspect Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1954, residing in Hau Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) is being detained on charges of murder. Nghe An Provincial Police are currently coordinating with Yen Thanh District Police to continue to investigate and expand the case.
According to Mrs. Huong’s testimony, the main reason for her killing her grandson was a family conflict. Accordingly, due to difficult economic conditions, Mrs. Huong’s son’s family sent their child, Nguyen Thi Tam (born in 2008), to Mrs. Huong and her husband to raise for many years while they went to work in the South.

In recent months, Ms. Huong's son has been living in the countryside and has often had conflicts with his biological father. Ms. Huong said that her son was rude to his parents. While living with his grandparents, Tam was also not well-behaved, so this conflict has been simmering.
On November 3, Mrs. Huong was cycling in the middle of the road when she met her grandson Tam, also riding an electric bike on his way home. The two of them invited each other to visit their relatives, but they were not there.
On the way home, Mrs. Huong mentioned that Tam and her father were rude, so they argued. At this time, Mrs. Huong began to have the idea of killing her granddaughter. When passing by Bau Ganh dam area, Mrs. Huong told Tam to go take a bath and asked her to scrub her back. When her granddaughter was not paying attention, Mrs. Huong pushed her into the water.

Mrs. Huong herself also fell in, but managed to grab onto the shore, while Tam drowned. Afterwards, Mrs. Huong left Tam's bicycle on the dam bank and went home, taking a bus to Hanoi with another woman.
During the investigation, the police determined that Tam was with Ms. Huong at the last moment, so they summoned her to confront her and Ms. Huong admitted to killing her.
"For now, the suspect's statement is as such, but the reason, motive, and purpose will continue to be clarified by the authorities," said the provincial police leader.
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on the afternoon of November 3, Nguyen Thi Tam (a 6th grader living in Yen Thanh district) went to a friend's birthday party. At around 4:30 p.m., Tam left early because her house was far away and she was afraid it would be dark. However, by the evening of the same day, her relatives still had not seen her return, so they organized a search for her.

During the search, relatives discovered Tam’s hat and coat at the foot of Bau Ganh irrigation dam, with an electric bicycle on the shore. Suspecting that Tam had drowned, local residents and police went to Bau Ganh dam to search but could not find him. On the morning of November 5, Tam’s body was discovered floating on Bau Ganh dam.
Extracting from the camera of the people on the roadside, the police recorded the time when Tam came back from the birthday party and met Mrs. Huong. After that, Mrs. Huong parked her bike and asked Tam to take her.
