In midfield, Coach Park also chose Hung Dung and Hoang Duc to play together. In defense, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung was chosen and the three central defenders were Van Hau, Thanh Chung and Tan Sinh. The two players guarding the two wings were Do Thanh Thinh and Ho Tan Tai.
In the first minutes of the match, U22 Indonesia caused many difficulties for Quang Hai and his teammates. The opponent played low, close and also played very cautiously. Meanwhile, U22 Vietnam's attacks were still ineffective in the first 15 minutes.
Although not really dominating the game, U22 Indonesia still took the lead thanks to a mistake by goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung. In the 23rd minute, from a not-so-dangerous cross from the right wing, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung failed to catch the ball and created an opportunity for striker Fauizi Sani to rush in and head the ball close to the goal.

Immediately, U22 Vietnam had an answer after that. In the 25th minute, midfielder Do Hung Dung fired a rather tricky shot but unfortunately the ball went into the back of the net.
Coach Park Hang-seo's players pressed forward to threaten their opponents and created many dangerous situations. In the 37th minute, Trong Hoang improvised a powerful shot from nearly 30 meters away. Luckily for U22 Indonesia, goalkeeper Nadeo played brilliantly to block the shot.
In the rest of the first half, U22 Vietnam could not find a way to score against Indonesia and accepted the 0-1 result before entering the break. In the second half, coach Park Hang-seo sent Ha Duc Chinh in to replace Ho Tan Tai and Trong Hoang was returned to his familiar position as right-back.

Continuously applying pressure, the efforts of U22 Vietnam were finally rewarded. Thanks to a corner kick in the 63rd minute, center back Thanh Chung chose the right spot, headed the ball back dangerously to equalize the score 1-1. The goal helped the mentality of Coach Park Hang-seo's players become more relaxed.
In the 75th minute, also from a deliberate corner kick, U22 Vietnam created a dangerous situation. Hung Dung crossed the ball into the box, Hoang Duc finished right at the edge of the penalty area but could not trouble the Indonesian goalkeeper. Controlling the game and calmly coordinating, but in the 78th minute, Hung Dung startled the Indonesian defense with a shot from a distance that goalkeeper Nadeo had to work hard to block.
