Provincial Party Secretary directs handling of violations of the National Monument of Huu Temple in Thanh Chuong

On the morning of December 5, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, held a regular citizen reception in December. At the December citizen reception session, citizens had 5 comments and recommendations to the Provincial Party Secretary, related to the contents of policies for wounded and sick soldiers; the encroachment on the national relic of Huu Temple during the construction of Linh Sam Pagoda in Thanh Yen Commune, Thanh Chuong District; the payment of compensation for relocation of households in Tam Quang Commune, Tuong Duong District related to the Chi Khe Hydropower Project; land disputes in Nghia Hop Commune, Nghia Dung Commune, Tan Ky District...

Reporting to the head of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Canh Sau - member of the Nguyen Canh Family Council of Vietnam said that during the construction of Linh Sam Pagoda, the level of encroachment on the national historical and architectural relic of Huu Temple in Thanh Yen Commune, Thanh Chuong District was very serious. Mr. Nguyen Canh Sau also reported that after the incident, the people and representatives of the Nguyen Canh family had made a petition to the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District but it had not been thoroughly resolved.

After listening to the citizens' feedback, the Provincial Party Secretary requested relevant agencies and the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district to respond. The representative of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district said that on October 22, 2019, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district issued a record requesting the protection of the relic and on October 28, 2019, suspended the activities of the organization building Linh Sam pagoda. After that, when the Provincial People's Committee requested a written request to re-examine the case, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district established an inspection team and it is expected that this afternoon (December 5), the People's Committee of the district will organize an announcement of the inspection conclusion and directions for handling violations.

"It is regrettable that such an incident happened before the government intervened to resolve it" - the Provincial Party Secretary said; at the same time, he requested relevant agencies to inspect and handle violations in accordance with the law; assigned the Provincial People's Committee to review and re-evaluate the construction status and prioritize the protection of the Huu Temple National Monument; requested the Thanh Chuong District People's Committee to review the violations in this incident.

The opinions and recommendations of the people at the December citizen reception session were listened to, responded to and directed to be resolved by the Provincial Party Secretary, relevant departments, branches and localities in accordance with procedures and order to ensure the rights and interests of citizens.
