Lighting up dreams, nurturing young aspirations
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2019, the Provincial Ethnic Minority High School turned 35 years old. After more than 30 years of construction and development, the school is not only a place to educate and train source cadres for mountainous districts but also truly becomes a warm home, nurturing and caring for generations of students to grow up and make many contributions to their homeland and country.
35 years after its establishment, the Provincial Ethnic Minority High School is still located at the old location on National Highway 1, which used to be the headquarters of the Ministry of Construction's Tin Union. In the early days, the school was just a makeshift and dilapidated building when it had to reuse the facilities of the old unit. Now the school's appearance has completely changed with a beautiful campus and green trees. The school has 5 spacious high-rise buildings, ensuring enough food and accommodation for boarding students and teaching equipment is being increasingly modernized to meet the needs of teaching and learning in the new situation.
Looking back at the school's founding process, we cannot forget the difficult years. If other schools had one or two difficulties, the Provincial Ethnic Minority High School had five or ten times more difficulties. The reason for this affirmation is that when the school was officially established on October 15, 1984, all the first steps of the school were "pioneering" and "piloting". Therefore, putting the school into operation was not simply a matter of facilities, staff organization, and teacher mobilization, but also had to pay attention to many other issues related to mechanisms, policies, and regimes for students, and related to enrollment work.
There were times when, when asked about the policy of establishing the school and whether or not there would be students coming to study, many officials of the Department of Education and Training did not dare to confirm that "yes"... Even when they had enrolled, students had come to school, but at that time, because there were few students in the mountainous districts, low quality, and they were not used to the city, not used to the concentrated lifestyle, the situation of students enrolling and then wanting to return was quite common... Difficulties piled on difficulties. Difficulties became more and more difficult.
The only thing that can help the school overcome challenges and obstacles at this time is the belief in a correct and strategic policy with the goal of creating a source of highly qualified and educated cadres to return to serve the mountainous people, especially those areas that still face many difficulties. Later, when reviewing the success of this model, many opinions also said that when the Provincial People's Committee established the Nghe Tinh Ethnic Minority Youth School, now the Nghe An Ethnic Minority High School, the issue of creating a source of ethnic minority cadres was strongly raised and had the right investment.
