(Baonghean.vn) - After renting a self-driving car for the second time, Tran Van Duc went online to order fake documents to "magically" turn the car into his property and then pawned it to get money to spend.

On December 26, Hoang Mai Town Police (Nghe An) announced that the unit had just issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute the defendant Tran Van Duc (born in 1974), residing in Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district) for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Previously, Hoang Mai Town Police, the unit that presided over and coordinated with Nghia Dan District Police, Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police, successfully broke Project 129XO, clarifying the fraudulent act of appropriating property of Tran Van Duc.

At the end of November 2019, Tran Van Duc traveled from Hoang Mai Town to Vinh City to a self-drive car rental shop on Nguyen Sy Sach Street to rent a Fortuner with license plate 37A - 293.06. After renting the car, Duc used his phone to take pictures of the car and then sent them to a person in the South to ask him to make a fake ID card and driver's license under the name Tran Van Minh (born in 1976, residing in Hamlet 6, Quynh Thang Commune, Quynh Luu District).

In addition, Duc also went to the locksmith shop to have another car key cut. To gain the shop owner's trust, the first time he rented a car, Duc returned the car on time and paid the full amount.

After receiving the fake documents from Ho Chi Minh City, on December 2, Duc continued to go to the above shop to rent the car and did not forget to bring all the fake documents mentioned above. Duc drove to Hai Phong then returned to Hoang Mai to the Chau Loan pawn shop (Bac My hamlet, Quynh Thien ward, Hoang Mai town) to pawn the car and documents for 450 million VND. When handing over the car to the pawn shop owner, Duc handed over the re-made key and kept the original key.

On December 15, Duc went to the pawn shop and contacted the owner that he was going to sell the car and took pictures of the car to send to the customer. Taking advantage of the owner's carelessness, Duc used the original key to start the engine and fled to Vinh city to return the car to the owner of the rental shop. After returning the car, knowing that the owner of the pawn shop was searching for him, Duc fled the area and hid in the forest in Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district.

For nearly two weeks, members of the Task Force conducted verification in Quynh Luu and searched all over the area to find the suspect. After verifying that the suspect was hiding in Nghia Son, the Task Force deployed working groups to solve the case, catching suspect Tran Van Duc red-handed hiding at the edge of the forest in Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district.
