V.League 2020 kicks off: Song Lam Nghe An visits Saigon
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the draw results of the 2020 V.League National Championship, Song Lam Nghe An Club will visit Saigon Club. Meanwhile, rookie Hong Linh Ha Tinh welcomes Viettel Club.
The 2020 season brings together 26 professional clubs, with 14 teams participating in the V-League including: Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, SLNA, Than Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, B.Binh Duong, Saigon, SHB Da Nang, HAGL, Quang Nam, Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh, Viettel, Hong Linh Ha Tinh.
There are 12 teams participating in the First Division: Khanh Hoa, Dong Thap, Dak Lak, Long An, Tay Ninh, Hue, Binh Phuoc, Binh Dinh, Can Tho, An Giang, Pho Hien, and newcomer Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Accordingly, in option 1, if U23 Vietnam wins the right to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the National Cup will open with the qualifying round match on February 9, 2020 and is expected to end on October 31, 2020. The National Championship is expected to start on February 22, 2020 and end on October 24, 2020.
The First Division is scheduled to start on February 29, 2020 and end on September 26, 2020. This arrangement of the schedule will help national teams have enough time to prepare for the matches of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers as well as the 2020 Olympics.
In option 2, if U23 Vietnam does not qualify for the 2020 Olympics, the opening schedule of the tournaments will remain the same as option 1, but the tournaments will end earlier. Specifically, the National Cup is expected to end on October 3, 2020, the National Championship will end on September 26, 2020, and the First Division will end on August 23, 2020.

In this year’s tournament, in the V-League, each team is allowed to use 3 foreign players and 1 Vietnamese player of foreign origin on the field. Only 3 clubs participating in the Asian tournament including (HCMC, Than Quang Ninh) and Southeast Asia (Hanoi, HCMC) are allowed to register 4 foreign players and 1 player of foreign origin.
The opening matches of V.League 2020 are Binh Duong - Da Nang, Thanh Hoa - Hai Phong, Hanoi - Nam Dinh, Quang Nam - Ho Chi Minh City, HAGL - Than Quang Ninh, Saigon - SLNA, and rookie Hong Linh Ha Tinh vs Viettel.
The matches in the National Cup qualifying round will start from February 9, 2020, notably Song Lam Nghe An will welcome the lower-ranked team Binh Dinh, Nam Dinh will welcome HAGL, and Ha Tinh will welcome X. Tay Ninh.
