Man sentenced to 15 years in prison for buying drugs from Laotians to sell
(Baonghean.vn) - When a Laotian came to his house and invited him to buy drugs to sell, Vu Dua Va immediately agreed. He hid the goods for about 4 hours, and took the drugs out to sell to strangers, then was arrested by the police.
On December 27, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Vu Dua Va (born 1981), residing in D2 village, Tri Le commune (Que Phong district) for the crime of "Illegal trading of narcotics".
Before that, at around 12 noon on October 3, 2019, a Mong (Lao) man came to Vu Dua Va's house and asked, "Do you buy drugs?". Vu Dua Va immediately asked, "What kind of drugs do you sell?". This person replied, there were about 400 pink pills (45.7 grams of Methamphetamine), sold for 3.5 million VND. Vu Dua Va agreed to buy, so he gave the money to the Laotian and received the "goods" back.

At 4 p.m. the same day, two unknown men came to Va's house to buy drugs. Vu Dua Va said there were more than 400 pink pills for sale at 8 million VND. These two people agreed to buy so Va went into the house to get the drugs to prepare to deliver to the customer when he discovered the police entering the house.
At the same time, the wife named Va Thi Tong went home to get bamboo shoots, and gave the drug package to his wife and told her to "throw it away". Before Tong could throw it away, he was checked by Que Phong District Police and arrested along with the evidence. The two people who bought the drugs, took advantage of the moment of carelessness and escaped.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. Vu Dua Va said that because of poverty and having many children, he had to deal in drugs. If this deal had been successful, the defendant would have made a profit of more than double his capital.
The panel of judges determined that the defendant’s drug trafficking was dangerous to society. The defendant had mitigating circumstances, such as his honest confession. Considering the entire case, the court sentenced Vu Dua Va to 15 years in prison for “Illegal drug trafficking”.
As for the defendant's wife, because she did not know the plastic bag contained drugs, she is not criminally responsible.
