Models of applying science and technology in growing fruit trees bring new expectations.
(Baonghean.vn) - Thanks to the application of science and technology (S&T) in growing fruit trees, new prospects have opened up to increase income for farmers.
In recent days, Mr. Tran Huu Duc's family in Hamlet 4, Thuan Son Commune (Do Luong) has been very excited when 9 hectares of fruit trees, with 3,500 jackfruit, Thai custard apple and green-skin grapefruit trees planted 2 years ago, have started to bear fruit.
To grow trees effectively, Mr. Duc has applied science and technology to tree care. The entire hill has a drip irrigation system that runs to each tree.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Phung Khoi in Trung Son commune (Do Luong) produces trees on the riverside alluvial land. Thanks to his experience in producing perennial trees, Mr. Khoi has applied science and technology very well to take care of the trees according to the correct process. Thanks to that, each hectare of fruit trees such as Melon and Pumpkin has brought in hundreds of millions of VND/year. Currently, he is growing 7 hectares of pumpkin trees. It is expected to yield very high yields.
Mr. Khoi happily said: "For this winter squash crop, within 4 to 4.5 months, the average harvest per hectare is 28 tons of fruit, with an average price of 10,000 VND/kg. The summer-autumn crop will be harvested faster, about 2.5 months."

In addition to growing squash on alluvial land, Mr. Khoi is currently investing in a greenhouse on the rice fields in Hamlet 7, Trung Son Commune. This greenhouse has an area of 1,000 square meters, Mr. Khoi will grow melons.
Currently, in Do Luong district, many households have successfully applied science and technology to fruit tree production, typically: Mr. Dang Anh Tuan in hamlet 7, Xuan Son commune with the red-fleshed dragon fruit model grown using Japanese technology; the Dien grapefruit growing model of Mr. Dang Van Bay in Giang Son Dong commune; the integrated fruit garden model with automatic irrigation of Mr. Chin in Xuan Son commune; seedless lemon growing of 6 households in Xuan Son, Thuan Son, Boi Son, Dai Son...
During the tree planting process, households have strictly followed the care process, especially boldly investing in drip irrigation systems, mist irrigation, and applying science and technology to production.

The models of applying science and technology have been clearly effective and increased income for household economy. The quality of products when brought to the market is accepted by the people and purchased quickly. Currently, our farmers' association has 12 Internet clubs, through which people can access and exchange information on crop production, livestock breeding, etc. Each club has from 50 to 70 participants. In the coming years, the district farmers' association will continue to direct the grassroots to do a good job of linking to organize the dissemination of science and technology, and short-term vocational training to apply in production.
