The Ministry of Health warns people with symptoms of respiratory infection, fever, cough, and difficulty breathing not to travel or go to crowded places to prevent strange pneumonia.

The warning was issued by the Ministry of Health on January 21, in the Interim Guidelines for Monitoring and Control of Acute Respiratory Infections Caused by the New Coronavirus nCoV. This is the culprit causing acute pneumonia in Wuhan City, China, which started on December 31, 2019. The disease is spreading rapidly to countries and territories such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, and the United States.

According to this guideline, people with symptoms of respiratory infection or suspected illness such as fever, cough, shortness of breath should not travel or go to crowded places. Caregivers must take personal protective measures such as wearing masks, glasses, gloves, hats, etc. and washing hands with soap after each contact with the patient.

People who have been in close contact with the patient need to be monitored. Specifically, people who work in close proximity, or in the same office as the patient; people who sit in the same row or two rows (2 meters) in front or behind the patient on the same bus, train, or plane. People who live in the same household as a confirmed case.

For families, it is necessary to clean and ventilate the house, wipe the floor, doorknobs and surfaces of household objects with detergents such as soap or disinfectant solution. In particular, respiratory secretions of patients must be thoroughly treated with a disinfectant solution containing 1.25 active chlorine...

Early detection of cases that have entered the country is necessary to isolate, monitor, and thoroughly handle the outbreak to prevent community spread.

Previously, the Ministry of Health also announced Guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of acute pneumonia caused by the new strain of Corona virus (nCoV).

As of the morning of January 22, China had 9 deaths due to pneumonia caused by the nCoV virus, 440 patients in 13 provinces and cities across the country including Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Henan, Chongqing... These health officials also confirmed that the strange pneumonia can spread from person to person.

The World Health Organization (WHO) held a meeting of the Public Health Emergency Response Committee on January 22 to decide whether the nCoV acute respiratory infection outbreak in China meets the criteria to be a Public Health Event of International Concern (PHEIC).
