The first festival of going down to the fields (also known as Tich Dien festival) was held in 987 with the event of King Le Dai Hanh personally going down to the fields to plow with farmers in a rural area in Ha Nam province today. Since then, the festival of going down to the fields has been held annually under many kings and has become an important festival in the lives of people in many regions across the country.
In recent years, this festival has been restored and promoted by many localities in the province with the wish to pray for favorable weather, good crops, bountiful harvests, and a prosperous life.
