Nghe An postpones Phu Dong Sports Festival to prevent Corona epidemic

Phu Dong Sports Festival is an important activity of the education sector and is traditionally held every two years. In 2020, the 19th Phu Dong Nghe An Sports Festival is expected to open on the morning of February 24 in Vinh city.

However, at present, due to the increasingly dangerous developments of the Corona respiratory disease, the Department of Education and Training has just issued a document on postponing the organization of the 19th Phu Dong Sports Festival to prevent the epidemic. Previously, also in February, according to the plan, Nghi Loc and Yen Thanh districts will hold the Phu Dong Sports Festival at cluster level No. 3 and No. 4. However, due to the high risk of disease transmission when gathering in large numbers, the Department of Education and Training has also decided to postpone the competition.

At this time, the Provincial People's Committee has also issued a document allowing all students in all schools in the province to stay home to prevent the Corona epidemic and students will start staying home from tomorrow (February 7).

However, during this time, the Department of Education and Training still established two inspection teams to conduct surprise inspections of schools' responsibilities in preventing and combating acute respiratory infections caused by the new strain of Corona virus at schools in the province.

The planned inspection period will start from February 5 until the whole country declares the end of the epidemic.
