This morning, February 7, the authorities of Quynh Hong commune and veterinary agencies destroyed 160 geese and chickens of the two families of Ms. Ho Thi Tinh and Mr. Ho Huu Thang in Hong Phu hamlet, Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu).

Mr. Tran Minh Quan - Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Quynh Luu district said that at the end of the afternoon of February 6, the veterinary agency had test results positive for A/H5N6 influenza in the poultry flocks of these two families. By this morning, the local authorities and veterinary agencies had made records and proceeded to destroy all the poultry right at the farm area of ​​the two families.

The work of preventing A/H5N6 flu is being planned by the Quynh Hong commune authorities to be implemented immediately. Mr. Ho Nghia Duong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Hong commune said that immediately after the A/H5N6 flu outbreak occurred in Hong Phu hamlet, on the morning of February 7, the commune implemented a plan to vaccinate all existing poultry and waterfowl with H5N6 vaccine. In the immediate future, the locality will allocate funds to buy chemicals and lime powder to serve the disinfection work.

According to statistics, Quynh Hong commune currently has 8,910 poultry and waterfowl. To ensure vaccination against A/H5N6 influenza, the commune has made a request to the district to provide vaccines for early vaccination.

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: The H5N6 outbreak in Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu) is the first A/H5N6 influenza outbreak in the province in 2020. To promptly prevent the epidemic, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will provide enough vaccines as requested by the locality.

According to Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh's recommendation, the H5N6 epidemic occurring in poultry flocks has a high possibility of spreading to humans, so when an outbreak occurs, those working in the destruction work need to use tools and protective gear; at the same time, urgently disinfect the epidemic area.

According to the Ministry of Health, H5N6 avian influenza is a dangerous infectious disease caused by influenza virus group A/H5N6. The disease spreads very quickly, killing many poultry species such as chickens, ducks, geese, quails... In particular, H5N6 avian influenza can be transmitted to humans and cause death.
