Nghe An handles 7 cases of spreading false information about the nCoV epidemic

(Baonghean.vn) - Up to now, Nghe An has not detected any cases of Corona virus infection. However, 7 cases have been summoned by authorities for questioning for spreading false information on social networks.

While the outbreak of acute respiratory infection caused by the new strain of Corona virus in the world and in Vietnam is complicated and unpredictable, some individuals have posted and shared false and unverified information, causing public confusion.

Since February 4, Nghe An Provincial Police have verified, investigated, clarified, and consolidated records and documents to handle 7 violations.

The cases include: Nguyen T. Th.T (41 years old, residing in Ben Thuy ward), owner of Facebook account: Thuy Trang; Tran Thanh M. (24 years old, residing in Quynh Thanh commune, Quynh Luu district), owner of Facebook account Thanh Minh Tran; PTL (28 years old, residing in Hung Loc commune, Vinh city), owner of Facebook account Bich Lien; DTAB (30 years old, residing in Le Loi ward, Vinh city), owner of Facebook account Ai Bich; CVQ (24 years old, residing in Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district), owner of Facebook account Chich Dinh Quang; HVH (residing in Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district), owner of Facebook account Hai Son; HTT (32 years old, residing in Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town), owner of Facebook account Ho Trang.

In the case of Ms. HTT, Hoang Mai Town Police issued an administrative penalty decision with a fine of 5 million VND.

Working with the police, the subjects confessed that the information posted on their personal pages was copied content or completely fabricated, untrue; when posting, they themselves did not care about the source of the information, true or false, but only posted to attract likes and views on social networks; some posts even attracted thousands of likes and tens of thousands of shares.

Through the investigation, it was found that the main purpose of posting information was to increase the number of online sales interactions or due to limited awareness and understanding.

Nghe An Provincial Police affirmed that in the coming time, they will continue to investigate, clarify and strictly handle cases of taking advantage of social networks to provide and share fake information, false information, distortion and slander; especially information related to the situation and developments of the acute respiratory disease caused by the new strain of Corona virus.
