On February 12, a 13-month-old baby in Vinh City was taken to the hospital by his family after he continuously cried and vomited.
According to the parents, after eating the ready-made porridge, the child became fussy, refused to eat, and vomited mucus mixed with a little fresh blood. The on-call doctor examined the child and took an X-ray, which discovered a foreign object in the throat.

Doctors performed an endoscopy to examine the throat and removed a foreign object that was deeply embedded in the back of the throat. It was a thin piece of steel, about 2cm long, believed to be from a porridge strainer.
"Fortunately, the foreign object did not go any deeper," said the doctor, adding that he had encountered a similar case more than a year ago.
