Nguyen Huy Hoang and Pham Van Quyen 'return to the field' to play against the Vietnamese women's team?
(Baonghean.vn) - According to information from the coaching staff of the Vietnam women's national team, the female players will practice with former U23 Vietnam players who participated in the 2003 SEA Games, such as Nguyen Huy Hoang, Duong Hong Son, and Pham Van Quyen.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will have 3 practice matches next week with U16 PVF and U15 Hanoi. The remaining match will take place on Saturday afternoon (February 29) against U23 players from the 2003 SEA Games such as Van Quyen, Huy Hoang, Hong Son, Quang Huy, Minh Phuong, Tai Em, Quoc Vuong... with the purpose of training the athletes.
Currently, most of the above players have hung up their boots to pursue a coaching career. Former goalkeeper Hong Son is currently leading the Hanoi U21 team, Quoc Vuong is the assistant coach at Hai Phong Club, Huy Hoang is the assistant coach at SLNA, Van Quyen is the assistant coach at SLNA U15, Minh Phuong and Quang Huy are also pursuing a coaching career.

Speaking to the press, Coach Mai Duc Chung explained the reason for wanting to organize this match: “The male players also play fast and strong like the Australian women's team. They are still strong, playing long balls and high balls very well. I hope they will play like the Australian team. The PVF U16 and Hanoi U15 are the same. The boys are very strong and fast, so we cannot be slow.
I made this schedule because of the experience of the Olympic qualifiers in Korea. At that time, we did not have any friendly matches so many players were still confused. Thanks to this series of matches, in the future, we will not be confused anymore."
The list of the U23 veteran team to practice with the women's team has not been officially finalized. The players have not yet received invitations, but coach Mai Duc Chung confirmed that an agreement has been reached and this is an important activity to prepare the Vietnamese women's team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic play-offs.
The next opponent of the Vietnamese women's team is the Australian team. This team is currently ranked 7th in the FIFA rankings and is the current runner-up in Asia. The first leg will take place on March 6 at McDonald Jones Stadium (Newcastle, Australia) and the return leg is expected to take place in Cam Pha on March 11.
