(Baonghean.vn) - After serving her prison term for illegal drug trafficking, Trang created a cover as an orchid trader and, together with her second husband, built an illegal drug trafficking ring.

The Impenetrable House

Since early December 2019, through investigation, Vinh City Police have identified a transnational drug trafficking ring with a large quantity of drugs, the drugs were identified as being transported from border districts bordering Laos to Vinh City and then transferred to the southern provinces for consumption. A special project was established to combat this.

The leader of this "huge" drug ring was identified as Nguyen Thi Trang (born in 1972), residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, Nghe An. In 2007, after completing her prison term for illegal drug trafficking, Trang continued to "go back to her old ways". Creating a cover as an orchid trader to deceive the authorities, Trang and her second husband built an illegal drug ring.

Trang's second husband, Doan Van Dung (born in 1978), is a "drug addict" with 5 previous convictions for theft. Dung and Trang got married and exchanged benefits. Being "supported" with "medicine", Dung took on the task of assisting Trang in distributing goods to "agents".

The business of the two subjects was sporadic and irregular but they became rich quickly. Two houses with an area of hundreds of square meters located in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, Trang installed many cameras and raised many fierce dogs to prevent "movement".

The daughter of Trang's first husband (who had a criminal record for drug trafficking) was assigned to be on duty 24/7 on the camera to help her mother commit the crime. Not interacting with strangers, living a closed life, when going out, Trang and Dung often did not go together, frequently changing means of transport and communication methods, so the process of monitoring the subjects' movements, the detectives encountered many difficulties.

An important player in this ring is Nguyen Cong Hoi (born in 1980, residing in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city, Nghe An), who is the intermediary "distributing" goods for Trang to deliver to addicts.

Consolidating documents and reviewing and evaluating the role of each subject in the network, the Task Force identified Nguyen Cong Hoi (a subordinate of Trang) as an important link and a breakthrough for the success of the task force. Therefore, Hoi was the "first punch" for the Task Force to expose the sophisticated and cunning tricks of the ringleader.

Sensing the opportunity was ripe, on the evening of February 16, 2020, the working groups set out. Two groups were assigned to ambush and monitor Trang's house, while the remaining groups proceeded to arrest Nguyen Cong Hoi, while the subject was selling drugs, seizing at the scene 6 grams of crystal meth and 0.315 grams of heroin.

At 11:00 a.m. on February 17, the task force raided Trang's house and arrested the couple. In their private room, they seized 2 heroin cakes, 3 kg of crystal meth, 1 electronic scale, 7 cell phones, and 1 car.

At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed to their crimes. Nguyen Thi Trang always denied her crimes and blamed other subjects, but with the evidence and sharp arguments of the investigators, Trang had to bow her head and admit her guilt.

The Investigation Police Agency has initiated a case and prosecuted the three suspects for "Illegal drug trafficking". The investigation is currently continuing to expand.
