The number of people infected with Covid-19 in Korea exceeds 2,000
South Korea recorded 256 more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection on February 28, bringing the total number of infected people in the country to 2,022 cases.
To date, 13 people have died from the Covid-19 epidemic in South Korea. Previously, on January 20, South Korea confirmed the first case of infection in the country, a Chinese woman from Wuhan.
More than half of the new infections are linked to the Shincheonji sect at a church in the city of Daegu.

Of the 256 new cases, 182 were in Daegu, 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, and 49 were in neighboring North Gyeongsang Province. The total number of SARS-CoV-2 infections in Daegu and North Gyeongsang was 1,314 and 394, respectively.
Other major provinces and cities in South Korea have also reported a number of infections, with six cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Seoul, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said.
Daejeon and Busan reported four and two new cases, respectively, while Gyeonggi and South Gyeongsang provinces reported four and three new cases, respectively.
South Korea announced that 26 patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 had fully recovered and were discharged from hospital on February 28.
The number of people tested for SARS-CoV-2 and quarantined in South Korea has reached 24,751. The country has also tested a total of 68,918 suspected cases, with 44,167 cases testing negative for the virus strain.
