Two brothers in Quang Ninh 'led each other' to jail when going to Nghe An to buy drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - When hired by a person to buy drugs, Trong dragged his own brother into participating. In the end, both brothers were sentenced to life in prison.
On March 5, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of Do Van Long (born 1987), residing in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) for "Illegal transportation of narcotics" and Do Van Trong (born 1996, residing in the same locality) for "Illegal trading of narcotics".
Long and Trong are two brothers who regularly use drugs. Around July 2018, Trong met a man named Hung (unknown background and specific address). Hung invited Trong to Nghe An to visit and rent a room in Thai Hoa town to "take care of business" for him.
On August 8, 2019, Long traveled from Quang Ninh to Nghe An to meet Trong, with the purpose of asking his younger brother for money to buy drugs.

Two days later, Hung called Trong and told him to withdraw 150 million VND and take it to Kim Son town (Que Phong district) to give to an ethnic person. After that, he would receive 5 to 10 million VND in wages for taking the "goods".
Trong agreed, so that afternoon he withdrew the money and took a bus to the designated location. On the morning of August 11, following Hung’s instructions, Trong took the money to the hotel gate and gave it to a man. When Trong got on the bus, a man brought drugs and told him to “take them back to Hung”. Trong accepted them and put them in a bag containing longan.
At noon that same day, Trong rented a hotel in Thai Hoa town and called his brother to get some drugs for both of them to use. Afterwards, Trong gave Long 997 grams of drugs to transport to Quang Ninh.
At 11pm the same day, when Long was carrying drugs to Yen Ly intersection (Dien Chau district), he was discovered and arrested by Nghia Dan district police.
At the trial, the two defendants admitted to their crimes. Long said he was addicted to drugs, while defendant Trong was not addicted but had used drugs that day.
The panel of judges determined that the defendant Long’s two previous convictions for drug-related crimes were aggravating circumstances. Therefore, the court sentenced Do Van Long to life in prison for “Illegal transportation of narcotics.” The court sentenced defendant Do Van Trong to life in prison for “Illegal trading of narcotics.”
In this case, there is also a man named Hung, however Trong does not know the specific address so the authorities have no basis to investigate and verify.
